The overall skills for ECCE B2 level writers, you should do are be able to produce clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects related to their field of interest, synthesizing and evaluating information and arguments for a number of sources.

So you know, most of us are used to writing emails, a little bit more than letters. However, the ECCE B2 email genre you will notice it’s still getting at the formal purpose for writing.

We want them to be encompassing that formal letter writing genre, but through the medium of an email.

“Textbooks required for classes should be available to students for free through libraries or the internet”,

… so that gives the test takers the topic for writing and then write an ECCE essay on whether you agree or disagree with a statement about include specific reasons and details to support your opinion.

So in this case we’re giving them the genre, which is the ECCE essay as well as the purpose.

You won’t see the audience in the essay writing task, because, when writing an ecce essay, we just consider that that is a general formal academic audience that they’re writing to,

it’s, not one specific person necessarily so their register should reflect that formal, academic, genre.
